Why oils at all?

In the past, when the dog's wild ancestors hunted down their prey, they took much more with it Omega-3 fatty acids to himself than with today's feeding. This is mainly due to the fact that rabbits and game contain much more omega-3 than, for example, beef. Therefore, today's feed should be additionally enriched to compensate for the deficiency.

Oils also provide more energy, shiny fur and eliminate skin problems . In addition, oils help in the release of vitamins. If, for example, vegetables such as carrots are fed, the nutrients can only be converted in the body with the help of oil. Particularly active dogs need more energy and can also get this from high-quality oils. A sufficient supply of oil is particularly advantageous during the change of coat - this supports the dog's hair growth.

We dog owners should make sure not to feed just a single type of oil, but rather to switch regularly between different oils. In this way we provide our dog with various fatty acids and prevent deficiency symptoms. Too few of these fatty acids can otherwise lead to skin and coat problems, dandruff or eczema. In the worst case scenario, it can lead to serious metabolic problems. When buying, make sure that the Cold pressed oils are.

Tip: store the oils in the refrigerator.

How much oil does your dog need?

Opinions differ here. Scientists, however, assume a daily requirement of 0.3 grams of oil per “kilo of dog”. This amount of oil is said to meet a dog's daily needs.

Example: With a body weight of 10 kg, the dog should therefore be given 3 grams of oil with its food. This is roughly equivalent to a teaspoon of oil.
